Bell ringing is a fun and sociable team activity which helps keep the tradition alive. You will be very welcome to have a go and join our regular group. We are group: of young and not so young ringers, of experienced and not so experienced ringers (including some highly experienced ringing trainers). If you like company, team work and gentle or strenuous exercise (your choice), then Bell Ringing could just be for you.
Do I need any qualifications?
None. Bell Ringers don’t need to be big, strong, musical or mathematical (although a sense of rhythm can help).
Do I need to be a church member?
Not necessarily, but many are. Many ringers belong to churches and denominations other than where they ring.
What’s in it for me?
Exercise of body and mind, social activity, being part of a team, opportunity to visit other towers, sense of achievement. Whatever your reason, you can learn as much or little as you like and as fast or slowly as you like. Your choice.
When are the bells rung?
We ring for Church services and special Church events as well as for weddings and dedications.
When do you practice?
Thursday evenings (7:30 – 9:00pm). There is an earlier start time of 7:00pm available for beginners (by arrangement only).
You would be more than welcome to come along and have a go. You will find that it is never too early or too late to start.
